Congregational Meeting July

Harrisburg Christian Church     July 13, 2025
Congregational Meeting
Christy prayed to open.
Katie reviewed the following financial reports: HCC 2025 Budget
Christy opened the floor for questions related to the budget.
-Are we tracking peaks/flows for income and expenses?  Yes.  Katie is planning to create/ share a graph at the next congregational meeting which shows how this looks over the course of the year with monthly income/ expenses.
-The youth budget is at 20% spending.  Why?  Katie explained that the bulk of the Dauphin Island expenses will come out in July.  Also, youth paid to go on the Dauphin Island trip and that income shows as a positive in the youth budget.
-John mentioned to the congregation that the Leadership and Development budget is for developing leaders in the church.  If anyone is wanting to go to a conference or take a class, talk to him about utilizing those funds for something like that.
Old Business
  1.  Elevator Project
Katie shared the elevator lift budget.  Christy explained that the estimated total for the entire elevator project is around $46,000 (we have used $40, 661 so far).  This is a big change from the original estimate.  This entire project has been much less expensive to do.  Sam Coy shared that they are finishing the interior walls and that the lift should be in in a few weeks.  He estimated that the entire project will likely be completed in about a month.
New Business
  1.  Future of the Parsonage
The board is in the process of deciding what to do with the parsonage.
  1.  Termites
Sam Coy asked about the status of the termite situation in the church building.  Christy said that we have received several quotes, but we have not yet determined how to proceed.  She believes that Michael Thompson (Buildings & Grounds) is working on this.

Committee Reports
Pastor (John) - Introduced the summer staff to the congregation, introduced Kim Mobley, pointed out a few features on the church app and invited anyone having issues to visit with Kim to get those resolved.
Youth (Alex) - Overview of youth summer activities and summer staff program.  He pointed out that Bible Basics has been poorly attended and that having the assistant summer staff day on the same day as youth group has been a good idea.  Alex was responsible for the renovation of the playground- he expressed appreciation for all who have helped with that project.  Alex mentioned his resignation and stated that his last day of employment will be July 31st.  He asked the congregation to continue to discuss the mold and other issues with the parsonage, as well as to consider the doctrinal differences (especially in seeking the next youth minister).
Worship/Media and Tech (Corey) - Corey expressed appreciation for the worship team as well as the special music that we have been enjoying.  He also expressed appreciation for Kevin Fearn and all that he does.  The worship team is utilizing new technology and they are now operating paperlessly.  He also reviewed the Dauphin Island trip and expressed appreciation for all the volunteers that helped make that trip happen.
Building & Grounds (Michael Thompson) - Not in attendance
Communication (Kim Lanes) - Kim expressed appreciation for all of the volunteers that help with the beacon/ bulletin, church sign (Tom Head), app (Kim Mobley) and website (Jason House).  She said if anyone else wants to help with/ take over the church sign, to talk to Tom Head.
Fellowship/Membership (Judy Owens) - Judy reported that all is going well.  She expressed appreciation for all who brought food for the bereavement dinner(s), reported that we have several membership additions asked for members to check the pantry before they buy food items, as we are getting several duplicate items and there are things that need to be used.
Library (Connie/ Reported by Sam Coy) - There will be a drawing for a Walnut & Twine gift card as incentive to check out items from the library in the summer, as well as a Sight & Sound ticket giveaway to come.  The library is not accepting donations right now and Connie plans to weed out some of the books and DVDs soon.
Missions (Cindy Roller) - Cindy gave a report on the following missions/ missionaries that the church supports:
Reliant (Siems)
Evident Ministries
My Life Clinic
Christian Campus House
Harringtons
CRU/ Athletes in Action
Operation Christmas Child (Cindy is planning to form a committee soon for the upcoming campaign)
Senior Adult Ministry (Sharon Abernathy) - Monthly luncheons are going well.  The senior adult ministry will be volunteering to help with serving the food at family night for VBS.  Corey will be sharing about his Israel trip at the next senior adult luncheon on August 12th.
History (Barb Comegys) - Things are going well.
Christian Education (Kim Mustin) - Looking for a nursery worker (both services) - this is a paid position.  John talked to someone that was interested.  Sunday School has been staffed by the summer staff, which has given the normal Sunday School teachers a break.  Gearing up for VBS.

John prayed to close.
